Dapo RYDC Q&A Highlights

RANGERS Academy forward Dapo Mebude enjoyed a Twitter Q&A with supporters for RYDC this week – here are the highlights of his session.

The 18-year-old, who made his competitive first-team debut against Kilmarnock at the end of last season, took part in RYDC’s new Rangers Lotto campaign in the summer and was delighted to answer fans’ questions.

Q – Gary – Who do you look up to most in the team?

A – I would say Jermain Defoe. He plays in my position, he has helped me a lot and is easy to learn from. He has done it all in the game. He helps me out quite a lot.

Q – Euan – What player would you say your play style is similar to?

A – When I play as a winger I try and be direct and score goals like Raheem Sterling. He is fast, direct and a similar build to me so I would say him.

Q – Curtis – Are you hopeful in being able to get more appearances this season for the first team?

A – I am always confident in myself – I just need to keep showing in academy games and training sessions I am good enough. All the first team staff are really close to the academy so it is easy to get a chance to show what I can do.

Q – Nathan W – What is your favourite music?

A – I like grime and rap music. It depends on how I am feeling but my favourite singer is Tupac.

Q – Brian – what’s the best thing about being part of the Rangers Academy?

A – It comes with a lot of responsibility and I like to take on the pressure of winning games. You always try hard to win all the games we play and be successful like the first team.

Q – Martyn – Who in the first team has been a big influence for you?

A – I would say Scott Arfield and Andy Halliday have been really helpful to me and all the younger players. They have really helped me settle in. Jermain Defoe has also taken me under his wing so learning from someone like him does me the world of good.

Q – John – Chips or curly fries?

A – Chips

Q – Alex – I have seen your brother play too – who is the better player?

A – A lot of people wind me up and say it was him at that age. He is a good player but I would say me because I scored more goals.
