GREGORY Vignal admits he is looking forward to pitting himself against “The boss” when the Frenchman’s former sides Rangers and Liverpool line-up this Saturday.
Vignal is more used to be on the touchline these days, in his role as Rangers Women Head Coach but it is the match up with the Gers men’s boss and Liverpool captain on the day, Steven Gerrard that is getting the 38-year-old excited.
He admits he has been keeping himself in tip-top condition since retiring in 2013 and is ready to play the entire 90 minute should manager on the day Alex McLeish pick him.
Vignal made 30 appearances for Rangers, winning a league and Scottish Cup double in the 2004/05 season at Ibrox, while he turned out 11 times for the Anfield side.
Speaking to RangersTV he said:
“I am looking forward to it and I am really pleased because it’s such a good game to play in and it will be a real family day at Ibrox.
“It is good for the young boys and young girls to see all the former players and learn about the DNA, what does it mean to play for Rangers or Liverpool.
“It will also be nice to see the boss (Steven Gerrard) playing and I think the fans will enjoy the game.
“I think both squads are good and full of players who played a big part for Rangers and Liverpool. Everybody needs to be fit first!
“I try to stay fit so maybe they can get 45 minutes out of me, you always want to play 90 minutes but we have about 20 players so maybe everybody will play 45 or 60 minutes. We will see on Saturday.”
